Geothermal Well Drilling Initiative – Construction Update – 9/20/19
During the week of September 23rd:
Parking Lot N
- On Monday 9/23, the contractor will be installing additional fencing in the SE corner of Granby Lot N and begin pre-excavating at the well locations in the parking lot. Parking spaces adjacent to Sargent College will be relocated in the lot towards the west with signs designating patient parking.
- The subcontractor will periodically be using a vacuum excavation truck to remove sediment from the dewatering tanks in the alley and will be placing the material into the settlement basin within the fenced-in area. The site subcontractor will be on site to handle and remove soil material for transportation to the disposal facilities.
- Water from the storage tanks will continue to be periodically tested and be discharged into the storm water drainage system pending notifications from the testing agent.
Alleyway
- The drilling subcontractor has completed drilling on GT-24 and completed deviation testing and high-performance geothermal exchange piping installation on GT-12, GT-13, and GT-18. The drilling subcontractor will continue drilling at geothermal well GT-23.
- The site subcontractor completed capping wells GT-11, GT-12, and GT-13, with temporary below grade concrete structures and patched the existing pavement to allow tenant parking to return.
- The subcontractor will be using a vacuum excavation truck to remove sediment from the dewatering tanks in the alley and will be placing the material into the settlement basin within the fenced-in area within Granby Parking Lot N.
Park
- The drilling subcontractor will continue the drilling at geothermal well GT-7.
- Construction equipment will be making multiple trips into the fenced-in park area to access the stockpiled steel pipe casing materials.
