Geothermal Well Drilling Initiative – Construction Update – 8/23/19
During the week of August 26th
Parking Lot N
- The subcontractor will be using a vacuum excavation truck to remove sediment from the dewatering tanks in the alley and will be placing the material into the settlement basin within the fenced-in area ahead of offsite disposal.
- Water from the dewatering tanks will continue to be periodically tested and be discharged into the storm water drainage system.
Alleyway
- The drilling subcontractor has completed drilling on GT-9 and GT-21 and setting steel casing on GT-17 and GT-16 . Verticality measurements were completed on the geothermal well bore hole GT-9 and GT-21.
- The subcontractor will be continuing drilling geothermal well GT-19 and anticipates starting the bedrock drilling within the casing at geothermal well GT-18. They anticipate using a second drill rig for drilling and setting the steel pipe casing at geothermal wells GT-12, GT-13, GT-20, and GT-24. Please note that GT-12 and GT-13 will require tenant parking to be temporarily relocated to an adjacent area. Suffolk Construction has coordinated this with BU Parking & Transportation Services.
- The subcontractor will be using a vacuum excavation truck to remove sediment from the dewatering tanks in the alley and will be placing the material into the settlement basin within the fenced-in area ahead of offsite disposal.
- The site subcontractor will be onsite to patch areas of the pedestrian pathway along the rear of the Bay State Rd. brownstones.
Park
- Construction equipment will be making multiple trips into the fenced in park area to access the stockpiled steel casing and piping materials.
- The drilling subcontractor will be mobilizing the drilling rig to begin the drilling and steel casing installation at GT-7.
