Geothermal Well Drilling Initiative – Construction Update – 7/19/19

During the week of July 22nd

Parking lot N

  •  Pending disposal facility approvals, the subcontractor will continue to stockpile soil materials within the fenced in areas prior to testing and removal from the site.
  • Construction equipment will be making multiple trips from the alley to the parking lot N storage area.
  • Pending confirmation from the subcontractor, tree removals along the north edge of parking lot N are anticipated towards the end of the week. Parking spaces along the north edge of the lot will be impacted temporarily.

Alleyway

  •  The drilling subcontractor anticipates completing drilling at GT-11. Upon completion, drilling will begin at GT-10, further to the west behind Sargent College.
  • A second drill rig will continue to drill and set the steel casing to the bedrock along the north side of the alleyway.

Park

  • The subcontractor completed drilling and verticality testing at GT-27. The high performance geothermal exchange piping installation started on 7/19 and will continue into Monday. Installation will be followed by pressure testing, capping, and manhole cover installation.
  • Construction equipment will be making multiple trips into the park to access the stockpiled materials.

As a reminder to all, please be aware of all directional signage, as pedestrian travel paths may be altered. Your safety is imperative!
