Geothermal Well Drilling Initiative – Construction Update – 4/5/19

During the week of April 8:

Park Test Well #3

  • Driller received a delivery of new drill rod on 4/1 Monday evening and has achieved a drilled depth of approximately 440’.
  • Starting on 4/8, the drilling contractor anticipates continuing with the mud rotary drilling into bedrock at geothermal test well #3. A water tank truck will periodically be crossing Granby St. to access the hydrant on Bay State Rd.
  • The drilling operations will be ongoing between 9 am and 5:30 pm, and we anticipate higher than usual daily noise levels over the next two weeks.

Parking Lot

  • The geotechnical engineer will be obtaining additional soil samples using shallow drilling at three locations in the parking lot. This activity is anticipated to occur on 4/11 and 4/12. Specific parking spaces will be unavailable during the drilling operations.

Alley

  • The geotechnical engineer will be obtaining additional soil samples using shallow drilling at two locations in the alley behind Sargent College. This activity is anticipated to occur on 4/9 and 4/10. Specific parking spaces will be unavailable during the drilling operations.

As a reminder to all, please be aware of all directional signage, as pedestrian travel paths may be altered. Your safety is imperative!
