Geothermal Well Drilling Initiative – Construction Update – 2/22/19
During the week of February 25:
Parking Lot Test Well #1
- A 48-hour thermal conductivity test involving circulating fluid through the piping and measuring the temperature exchange with the ground to confirm the design assumptions was run over the weekend and is anticipated to be completed by 2/25.
- This week, starting on 2/25, the contractor will be removing stockpiled soil materials upon receipt of approval from an offsite facility. The contractor will also be excavating the area around the test well in order to cut down the piping below grade and patching the pavement to allow the lot area to be returned to parking.
- Soil investigations will continue in multiple locations within the parking lot.
Alley Test Well #2
- 48-hour thermal conductivity test involving circulating fluid through the piping and measuring the temperature exchange with the ground to confirm the design assumptions was completed on 2/22.
- This week, on 2/27 the contractor will be removing sediment from the water storage tanks and will be stockpiling material within the fenced area prior to offsite removal. Construction equipment will be periodically entering and exiting the alley.
- The contractor will also be excavating the area around the test well in order to cut down the piping below grade and patching the pavement to allow the alley to be returned to its pre-existing condition.
- Soil investigations will continue, one location at a time in the alley, for a total of three locations.
As a reminder to all, please be aware of all directional signage, as pedestrian travel paths may be altered. Your safety is imperative!
