Geothermal Well Drilling Initiative – Construction Update – 2/15/19

During the week of February 18:

Parking Lot Test Well #1

  • Geothermal piping installation was completed on 2/12 and vertical deviation measurement of the bore hole was completed on 2/13.
  • This week, starting on 2/22, the contractor will be running a 48-hour thermal conductivity test involving circulating fluid through the piping and measuring the temperature exchange with the ground. The purpose of the test is to verify the design assumptions of the system.
  • A small, enclosed generator needs to run continuously for 24 hours to provide power to the testing equipment during the test cycle.
  • Additionally, the geotechnical engineer will continue obtaining soil samples from multiple locations in the parking lot.

Alley Test Well #2

  • Geothermal piping installation was completed on 2/11 and vertical deviation measurement of the bore hole was completed on 2/12.
  • This week, starting on 2/20 the contractor will be running a 48-hour thermal conductivity test involving circulating fluid through the piping and measuring the temperature exchange with the ground. The purpose of the test is to verify the design assumptions of the system.
  • A small, enclosed generator needs to run continuously for 24 hours to provide power to the testing equipment during the test cycle.

As a reminder to all, please be aware of all directional signage, as pedestrian travel paths may be altered. Your safety is imperative!
