CILSE – Construction Activity – Week of 8/21/16
For the week of August 21, 2016:
Installation of fibreC panels will continue on the Cummington Mall side of the building on mast climber 3 and on the Blandford Mall side on mast climber 4. Installation of glass panels on the Commonwealth Avenue side of the building in the notch will take place in addition to glazing at the Commonwealth Avenue entrance. Excavation on the Cummington Mall side of the site moving toward the College of Communication for underground utilities will be ongoing. Miscellaneous roof detailing will be ongoing on the high roof and start on the 6th floor southeast low roof.
Wall framing will continue on floors 1 and 9. In-wall and above-ceiling electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and sprinkler rough will continue on floors 2 through 9. Drywall installation will continue on floors 2, 3, and 7 and soffit installation will continue on floors 4 and 5. Ceiling grid installation will be ongoing on the 4th floor and will begin on the 5th floor. Concrete floor moisture mitigation will start on the 4th floor. Passenger elevator installation will continue. The communicating stairs will be put in place on floors 6 through 8, as well as the fire shutter supports and soffits on floors 4 through 9.
Police details will continue to man the construction gates along Commonwealth Avenue to ensure public safety. The safety of our community is our highest priority, so we ask that you please pay close attention to posted signs, police, and safety personnel.
The construction team will hold regularly scheduled communications meetings that are open to the University community throughout the semester. The meeting schedule will be posted on the website. The next communications meeting will be September 22 at 10:30 AM in Morse Auditorium.
