CILSE – Construction Activity – Week of 8/7/16
For the week of August 7, 2016:
Installation of fibreC panels will continue on the Cummington Mall side of the building on mast climber 3 and on the Blandford Mall side on mast climber 4. Excavation along the Cummington Mall side of the site on the south side pile caps will take place to remove plate steel and complete underground utilities. Miscellaneous roof detailing will be ongoing and the high roof will continue under the cooling tower.
Wall framing will continue on floors 1, 8, and 9. In-wall and above-ceiling electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and sprinkler rough will continue on floors 2 through 9. Drywall installation will continue on floors 2, 3, and 7 and soffit installation will continue on floors 4 and 5. Ceiling grid installation will be ongoing on the 4th floor in the north lab areas. The service elevator car installation will continue and the passenger elevator will continue to be built. Installation of the communicating stairs will begin as well as the installation of fire shutter supports for floors 4 through 9.
Commonwealth Avenue overhead protection will be replaced starting on Tuesday. Pedestrians continue to be rerouted through Blandford, Cummington, and Hinsdale Malls. East travel lanes reduce to one lane and shift north in order to install the overhead protection daily between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.
Police details will continue to man the construction gates along Commonwealth Avenue to ensure public safety, and additional police details are assigned to control traffic and re-route pedestrians. The safety of our community is our highest priority, so we ask that you please pay close attention to posted signs, police, and safety personnel.
