CILSE – Construction Activity – Week of 7/3/16
For the week of July 3, 2016:
Installation of fibreC panels on the Cummington Mall side of the building will continue. Insulation will continue on the Cummington Mall and Morse Auditorium sides. Installation of air/vapor barrier from the swing staging will continue on the Cummington Mall side. Roofing will be ongoing.
Wall framing will continue on floors 1, 7, 8, and 9. In-wall electrical and plumbing and above-ceiling electrical, mechanical, and plumbing will continue on floors 2 through 9. Installation of drywall will continue on floors 2 through 5 along with painting on floors 2 through 4. MEPs will be ongoing on the first floor. Service elevator installation will be ongoing. 3 – 5 Cummington Mall loading dock and connector steel will be ongoing. Forming and pouring stairs for the Limited Use / Limited Application Elevator (LULA) will take place along with fMRI topping slab, first floor east entrance topping slab, and connector roof and 3rd floor.
Commonwealth Avenue storm connection work will begin on Tuesday, 7/5. Pedestrians will be re-routed through Blandford Mall, Cummington Mall, and Hinsdale Mall. Overhead protection has been removed, and Jersey barriers will also be removed. As shown in the attached logistics plan, the eastbound travel lanes on Commonwealth Avenue will be reduced to one lane and will shift south where we removed the Jersey barriers and the overhead protection. This work will take place daily from 9 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Police details will continue to man the construction gates along Commonwealth Avenue to ensure public safety, and additional police details will be assigned to control traffic and re-route pedestrians. The safety of our community is our highest priority, so we ask that you please pay close attention to posted signs, police, and safety personnel.
