BU Theatre Center Construction – Construction Activity – 6/6/16 – 6/24/16

Scheduled Construction Activity for 6/6/16 – 6/24/16:

General

Site preparation and enabling construction activities have begun as permitted by the Town of Brookline.
Work hours are 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays and 8 a.m. to 6 p.m on Saturdays.

Site Access

Access to parking on the site will be closed to the public and University faculty and staff for the duration of construction effective May 16, 2016 through the completion of the project.
The parking access ramp from Commonwealth Avenue will be available for scheduled University deliveries to the existing 808 Commonwealth Avenue building through June 10^th.
After June 10^th, the parking access ramp will be permanently closed for demolition.
All University deliveries will use the Essex Street loading area and freight elevator

Key Construction Activities

Utility relocations will continue under the parking access ramp from Commonwealth Avenue and are expected to finish on June 10^th for the 808 building.
Other underground utility relocations will be ongoing through the summer.
Trenching and installation for new electrical and tel/data utilities installation will continue at the corner of Dummer and Essex Streets. New concrete pads will be poured in place early in the week of June 6^th.
Pile driving activities will occur on the site starting around June 20^th. Abutters and neighbors can expect to feel vibrations through the ground adjacent to the site and to hear the pile driving rig hit the piles into the ground.
Demolition, excavation, and trenching of the entire project site will begin after June 10^th. These activities will include saw-cutting and removal of the asphalt and concrete on grade and preparation for installation of new site utilities and foundation installation.
