CILSE – Construction Activity – Week of October 11, 2015
For the week of October 11, 2015:
The project team is gearing up to start the installation of the building structural steel frame. We will continue to install the ground floor slab and will begin crane mobilization next week. Please be aware that there will be an increased amount of truck traffic during the morning hours next week. There will be additional police details on site to assist with the large deliveries. Safety continues to be a main focus of the entire project team. Please continue to follow the path identified by construction barricades and signs and be ready to take direction from police officers and project staff when necessary.
Monday (10/12) – No project activity due to Columbus Day.
Tuesday (10/13) – We will be pouring concrete slab on grade. Approximately 10 to 12 concrete trucks will enter and exit on the west side of the site. On the east side of the site we will be mobilizing a 240 ton crane which will erect the steel on the east side of the building and assist in erecting the large crawler crane.
Wednesday (10/14) – Steel erection will continue with 3 to 6 tractor trailer deliveries during the course of the day.
Thursday (10/15) – The crawler crane will begin to be erected on the west end of the site. The crane will be delivered on approximately 22 tractor trailer trucks. The crane, when completed, will have an approximate footprint of 40’X40’ and will have a boom of 300’.
Friday (10/16) – The crawler crane erection will continue within the project site.
Saturday (10/17) – The crawler crane erection will be completed. The crane will remain inside the project fence and will be onsite until February 2017.
In addition to construction activities inside the site, utility companies will be performing work on Commonwealth Avenue. This work will be conducted Tuesday through Friday from 9:30 AM to 3:30 PM. Expect alternating traffic lane closures throughout the week.
The construction team will hold regularly scheduled communications meetings on the first Thursday of every month at 10:30 AM and the third Wednesday of every month at 1:00 PM. These meetings are open to the University community and will be held in the project site office at 602 Commonwealth Avenue (basement of Morse Auditorium) unless otherwise noted. The schedule of these meetings is set through the fall semester (December 2015) and will be reexamined and/or reconfirmed for each semester as the project progresses.
The next communications meeting will be October 21st at 10:30 AM in Morse Auditorium.Please note that the meeting will be held in Morse Auditorium instead of the project site office this week.
