Admissions Reception Center Construction Update 9-24-13
As we near completion of the new Admissions Reception Center at the end of the year, we are now getting ready to pave the re-configured roadway from the corner of Granby Street up to and including the new entrance to the CAS Parking Lot. We have thought about how we could minimize impact on the parking situation as this work is completed and will be implementing the following schedule:
1) Shut down the portion of Bay State Road from Granby Street up to and including the CAS Parking Lot entry (Parking control booth and gate lanes) beginning at 6pm Thursday this week 9/26. Our contractor would begin taking out the old existing pavement and subgrade on the road at that time. Access to/from the CAS Parking Lot would be closed beginning at 6pm.
2) Continue through the following day Friday 9/27 with access to the Lot and the roadway closed…our Contractor would be stripping out the old subgrade and bringing in and compacting a new gravel road bed.
3) Continue through the following day Saturday 9/28 with access to the Lot and the roadway closed…our Contractor would be paving the road and lot entry area with the first binder coat of new asphalt paving. The Lot and roadway could re-open then Sunday morning 9/29 through the following two weeks until Saturday morning 10/12.
4) Then tentatively shut-down the roadway and Lot again on Columbus Day weekend Saturday 10/12 for the whole day so that our Contractor could come back and pave the Lot with the final topping coat. The lot and roadway could re-open on Sunday morning 10/13.
In summary the Bay State Road (George D Hart Way) from Granby Street to and including the entry of the CAS Parking Lot would be shut-down with no access or through traffic from 6pm Thursday 9/26 through 6am Sunday 9/29 and, again from 6am Saturday 10/12 until 6am Sunday 10/13.
In addition we will be storing some soil excavated from the roadway for a period of time in a small portion of the CAS Lot from approximately 9/24 through 10/15.
