Wheeler DeAngelis
Infant Mentor Teacher
Wheeler grew up in rural eastern Connecticut. He attended the University of Connecticut and earned a BA in Human Development and Family Studies with a concentration in Early Childhood Education. Since graduating, Wheeler has worked in a variety of settings, from an urban Early Head Start, to University Lab Schools, to a literal sheep farm. Through all these experiences, Wheeler has learned a lot about the unique nature of children and families’ experiences as well as their universality.
The thing Wheeler loves most about working with young children is their curiosity and their honesty. There is no scientist in the world as dedicated to their inquiries as an infant confronted with a new material. And there is no friend as honest as a toddler who just noticed your new shoes.
Outside of school hours, Wheeler lives in an apartment with three friends, his fiancé, and his dog. He is an avid board game player, traveler, and sports enthusiast, though unfortunately a Yankees fan. He is very excited to be a member of the Center team.
