Rachel Barrientos

Undergraduate Fellow

Rachel Barrientos is a third-year undergraduate in the College of Arts and Sciences and the Kilachand Honors College, double majoring in Architectural Studies and Spanish. The daughter of Salvadoran immigrants, her academic interests lie at the intersection of migration, cultural heritage, and the role of the built environment in shaping human experience. Since beginning her work at the Center for Forced Displacement, Rachel has focused on examining civil society responses to migration at the U.S.-Mexico border. She has previously worked as an English as a Second Language tutor for nonprofit organizations, including the Intergenerational Literacy Program in Chelsea, where she supported adult learners in developing the language skills needed to pursue education and employment opportunities.
