Our Center advances BU’s goal of providing “all students with a high-quality, residential educational experience, including academic offerings that address the world’s complex challenges, keep pace with rapidly advancing pedagogy, and prepare students for global citizenship.” Forced displacement is one of the world’s most complex challenges, and it provides a framework for discussing the meanings and failings of notions of global citizenship. Unlike many research centers, ours has a commitment to pedagogy and to researching what learning experiences best prepare humanitarian workers – as well as how all students, regardless of their future career, might be humanitarians.
