About the Center: The Center on Forced Displacement at Boston University supports new ideas, technologies, scholarship, awareness, and solution identification that will improve the human condition of vulnerable persons who are forced to leave their homes. We foster interdisciplinary research and engagement with the global challenge of forced displacement, bringing together multidisciplinary teams of researchers, practitioners, and artists from across schools and colleges at Boston University, around the country, and around the world.
Job Summary: The Podcast Director Fellow will manage all aspects of the Center’s podcast series on a part-time basis. This includes hosting episodes, editing and mixing audio, scheduling interviews, and ensuring high-quality content that aligns with the Center’s mission. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in the field of forced displacement and migration, as well as proficiency in audio editing and production.
Key Responsibilities:
- Hosting: Serve as the primary host for the podcast, conducting interviews and engaging with guests.
- Editing and Mixing: Edit and mix audio recordings to produce polished, professional episodes.
- Scheduling: Coordinate and schedule interviews with guests, ensuring timely production and release of episodes.
- Content Development: Collaborate with the Center’s team to develop engaging and informative content that aligns with our mission.
- Technical Proficiency: Utilize audio editing software (e.g., Audacity, Adobe Audition) to ensure high-quality sound production.
- Promotion: Assist in promoting the podcast through social media and other channels to increase audience engagement.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the communications team to align podcast content with the Center’s overall communication strategy.
- Interest in the Field: Demonstrate a strong interest in issues related to forced displacement, migration, and related topics.
Qualifications:
- Proficiency in audio editing software (e.g., Audacity, Adobe Audition).
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Passion for issues related to forced displacement and migration.
Schedule:
- This position consists of 10 hours of work per week.
- This is a hybrid position.
- Approx. 1 hour per week will be spent in-person for meetings.
- Approx. 9 hours per week will be spent working remotely.
