Sarah Elizabeth Neville

Sarah Elizabeth Neville focuses on child welfare in low-resource contexts, with a particular research focus on how to ensure the well-being of orphaned and vulnerable children in low- and middle-income countries while respecting their right to grow up in family care. Drawing upon implementation science, community-based participatory methods, and mixed methods, her work crosses the continuum of care, including family preservation and strengthening, family reunification, residential care institutions, foster care, and domestic and intercountry adoption. Her current research aims to adapt a trauma-informed, attachment-focused evidence-based intervention to use with families who are reunifying after their children lived in residential care institutions in Ghana. Previously, Sarah has also worked in Sierra Leone, Kenya, Guatemala, Nigeria, Liberia, and Zambia, and her local community of Chelsea, Massachusetts.
