Student Life

3 Week Pre-Course

In the Pre-Course, you will study with other Hosei University students. This is a time for you to get used to communicating in English and living at Boston University before the CELOP Fall Semester begins. Your Pre-Course study will include

  • Class 9:00 – 12:00 Monday to Friday
  • Field Trips

At the end of your pre-course, you will take a placement exam to determine your enrollment for the Fall semester.

Fall Semester

Core Class
9:00 – 12:00 Monday – Friday

What are core classes?

Core classes are the basis of CELOP’s intensive English programs. Classes are integrated instruction in all four language skills: speaking, listening, reading, and writing. The purpose of the Core classes is to:

  • 1help students develop accuracy and fluency in the four language skills.
  • 2help students develop their vocabulary, grammar, and pronunciation.
  • 3provide opportunities for students to strengthen their cultural and academic awareness and adaptation.

4 Concentrations Offered

Low to intermediate level students will take English Language and Culture.

High-intermediate and advanced level students can choose from the following 3 concentrations.

Elective Class
1:30 – 4:00 Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday
