Christopher Szabo

Post-Baccalaureate Research Assistant

I recently graduated Binghamton University in May 2015, with a major in Psychology and concentration in Applied Behavior Analysis. I am now working as a teacher at the New England Center for Children, as well as a volunteer post-baccalaureate research assistant here at the BEE lab, with the long-term goal of attending a Ph.D. program in Clinical Psychology. My research interest includes the use of cognitive phenotypic markers to study underlying genetic abnormalities in children. To this end, I seek to better understand how these predisposed populations come to interact with both optimal and sub-optimal environments. As a professional, I strive to implement both my own behavioral neuroscience research along with others’ contributions to the field to improve and manage early intervention programs. I envision a world where markers can be used affordably, universally, and in such a way that at-risk populations of children are identified early on. That way, differing outcomes can at least be curtailed, and at best eliminated. Beyond research, I enjoy playing the piano, producing music using computer software, hiking, rowing, exploring new beaches and waterfronts, and throwing various objects far and fast with friends.
