The BU Center for the Humanities (BUCH) recently received a $300,000 grant from the Teagle Foundation. This grant will allow BUCH to bring low-income, Boston-area high school students to campus for the next three summers for a seminar program, titled “The One and the Many at BU,” that’s intended to deepen their engagement with the classics while better preparing them for college. Susan Mizruchi, BUCH Director, William Arrowsmith Professor in the Humanities, and Professor of English will lead the program, along with BUCH staff and CAS faculty members Associate Professor of Classical Studies James Uden, Assistant Professor of History and African American Studies Paula Austin, and Master Lecturer in the CAS Writing Program Marisa Milanese. It will offer three weeks of college-level philosophy and literature seminars, tutoring, and mentorship for the students.
