Youth Sports and Development: Where Do We Go from Here?

An estimated 41 million American children and adolescents play competitive youth sports, and adult [...]coaches are key in making these programs successful.

A growing awareness for the development of such coaches led the Institute for Athletic Coach Education at BU’s School of Education to host a youth sport coach development roundtable to discuss the challenges that exist in developing high-quality coaches. Top researchers, youth development experts, and coach trainers led discussions and brainstormed possible solutions to create a set of preliminary strategies for advancing coach development efforts in the United States.
