Current Research

I am a physical oceanographer and my research interests center on the physics of the ocean circulation. Specifically, I seek to understand small-scale ocean dynamics and their roles in the large-scale coastal and global ocean circulation. These include energetic submesoscale ocean currents with a horizontal length scale of 0.1 – 10 km, boundary layers which are typically tens of meters thick and turbulent mixing events spanning centimeters to meters. I use a combination of theoretical fluid dynamics, numerical modeling and analysis of observations to tackle the research questions.
