Description:
Curious about how Earth’s landscapes—from vibrant coral reefs to ever-changing shorelines and wetlands—evolve over time? This course explores the quantitative methods and analytical techniques scientists use to understand the forces that shape our planet, focusing on both erosional and depositional processes. For 2026, our spotlight will be on the evolution of coastal and marine environments. Students will examine real-world case studies and apply hands-on tools to analyze how these dynamic landscapes change. This course fulfills BU Hub requirements for Quantitative Reasoning II, Oral and/or Signed Communication, and Creativity/Innovation.
