Project Title: Stakeholder Priorities in Medicine Access for Non-Communicable Diseases

Nikolina applied for a Fulbright grant to aid policy-makers and researchers in aligning institutional policy-making processes to strengthening medicine access in her native Serbia. As a Fulbright Scholar, Nikolina will affiliate with the University of Belgrade at the Faculties of Medicine and Pharmacy and engage key stakeholders in mapping policy options and processes affecting medicine access for non-communicable diseases. In collaboration with Serbian researchers, she will analyze current policies and frameworks related to selection, distribution, financing, rational use and guidelines of medicines for treatment of the three most prevalent NCDs: diabetes, cancer and cardiovascular disease. As published research on this topic is limited, this project may serve as a baseline policy analysis to support evidence-based interventions for health system strengthening. This experience will be a coalescence of Nikolina’s interests and professional experiences focused on improving medicine access in her native country.
