An estimated 30,000 people filed onto Nickerson Field Sunday for Boston University’s 143rd Commencement. Under partly cloudy skies, cool temperatures, and a blustery wind, they listened as Nina Tassler (CFA’79, Hon.’16), the former chair of CBS Entertainment, delivered the main address, watched as the University conferred honorary degrees, and cheered as the Class of 2016—an estimated 6,688 seniors and graduate students—officially said good-bye to BU.

As I watch the 2016 commencement speech and the graduating seniors I can only reminisce to 1983 on that same field when Dan Rather was giving the commencement speech to my graduating classCLA ’83 now CAS. I can only reaffirm that in your 20’s you can do no wrong as long as you try your best to do something good. More importantly is to head fear head on! This is probably the most transcending advice that will help the graduates in the real world.
Good luck to all terriers and best of the best is yet to come!

Wow! What a coincidence. My graduation day was also in 1983 and certainly remember Dan Rather giving our commencement speech. Though many years have passed, the memory is crystal clear. Thanks for sharing.
