Joseph is a PhD candidate working in the BU White Dwarf Group with Prof. JJ Hermes. Joseph is interested in white dwarf stars that are varying in brightness, especially those that show transits from the ancient remnant planetary systems they harbor. These systems may be offering a glimpse into what our own Solar System could look like in the far, far future. Mining large time-domain surveys like Gaia and the Zwicky Transient Facility is his tool of choice to do this work.
Joseph is always happy to chat about the most recent film he watched. He also serves as a department steward for the Boston University Graduate Workers Union.
