New England fall is in full swing, so what better way to celebrate than by checking out some of these events around the city? Bundle up with a jacket and scarf and head out to enjoy the sunlight and fall foliage while they last.

Snowport

Get some holiday shopping done early, as Boston’s annual holiday market returns this Friday, bringing with it more than 125 local businesses selling art, jewelry, food, and festive decor. The market also features a mistletoe arch, a winter wish wall, a crafting corner, curling, and Betty the Yeti—a massive pink stuffed Yeti—so there’s something for everyone.

Through December 28: Monday to Thursday, 3 to 8 pm, Friday and Saturday, 11 am to 9 pm, and Sunday, 11 am to 8 pm, 100 Seaport Blvd., Boston.

First Friday: Sun Catchers & Sweet Buns

Make your dorm room extra cozy this fall by stopping by the BU Office for the Arts First Friday drop-in arts and crafts event for November. It will be a fun (and free) afternoon of paper crafts, including origami, suncatchers, and more. Hungry? Treat yourself to a sweet bun, provided at the event.

Friday, November 7, drop-in event from 4 to 6 pm, George Sherman Union, Arts Initiative Suite (Room 201), 775 Commonwealth Ave.

SoWa First Friday

November 7 marks the first Friday of November, and that means it’s the SoWa Art + Design District’s monthly celebration of arts, culture, and inspiration. Head to the South End to check out the latest gallery exhibition, browse the shops, and have a bite to eat. The event is free of charge (barring any purchases you might feel compelled to make).

Friday, November 7, 5 to 9 pm, 450-460 Harrison Ave., Boston.

Veterans Day Parade

Celebrate veterans and honor their service and sacrifice for this country at Saturday’s Veterans Day Parade. Presented by the city of Boston’s Veterans Services office, the parade begins at the Boston Public Library on Boylston Street and heads down Boylston and past the Boston Common, before making its way to One City Hall Plaza. The celebration will feature a speaking program, a flag-raising ceremony, and a special concert honoring our service members and veterans.

Saturday, November 8, noon to 3 pm, starting at the Boston Public Library, 700 Boylston St., Boston.

Open Studios Fall 2025

Come to this cross-college “art school crawl,” where hundreds of graduate students from Boston University’s College of Fine Arts School of Visual Arts, the Massachusetts College of Art and Design, and the School of the Museum of Fine Arts at Tufts University will open their studios, giving a glimpse into their artistic processes and current projects.

Saturday, November 8, 10 am to 6 pm (see the schedule here).

Walter Brown Arena Open Skate

Ever wish you could skate like your BU Terriers? Carve out a slot in your schedule for open skate and test your abilities. It’s completely beginner-friendly, and you can bring your own skates or rent them for $7. Just make sure to bring a photo ID.

Sunday, November 9, noon to 2 pm, Walter Brown Arena, 285 Babcock St., Boston.
