BU Today Launches New Featured Events Calendar
University-wide calendar remains in place for now; new calendar aims to help build stronger communities across campus, grow event attendance, with features for ticketing, maps, social media sharing, easy ability to download to phone, more visually appealing design
BU Today is excited to announce the launch of a special Featured Events Calendar. Check it out here.
The Featured Events Calendar will provide a more visual platform for the promotion of all University events, with the aim of increasing social engagement, upping event attendance, and strengthening communities across campus. It will be included in our daily BU Today email and on the BU Today home page, and (in the near future) a link to the calendar will appear on the University’s main landing page, bu.edu.
The new BU Today Featured Events Calendar is not replacing the original University-wide BU Calendar (found here), which has been in place for nearly 20 years. Any new event at the University must continue to be posted there and will automatically feed into the new calendar. New events should not be posted directly to the new calendar.
The new calendar has several enhancements we want to highlight for the BU community:
- The events are easier to share on social media platforms, which will help drive audiences.
- The new calendar has an integrated mapping platform, so when an event location is entered with a specific address, a map will appear on the event page directing users to the location.
- Users can click on “I’m interested” to be reminded of an event as it gets closer.
- There are tools to search by “Event Type,” “Experience,” and dates, making the platform much easier to navigate.
Consider this our soft launch of the BU Today Featured Events Calendar. We will continue to work to improve it and share enhancements. We encourage BU community members to bookmark the page and use it to grow or strengthen your personal community.
And we want to hear from you. Feedback is welcome at today@bu.edu.
