Video: A Visit to BU’s Professional Clothing Closet
Program offers free attire for students seeking outfits for job interviews and the workplace
Launched last year, the Closet, housed in Room 103 of the Yawkey Center for Student Services at 100 Bay State Rd., provides students a chance to browse and select job-appropriate clothing, free of charge. It’s open to all BU students, offering a wide range of gently used clothing and accessories. There’s even a private area where you can try on clothes to make sure you’re getting the right fit.
To access the service, you just book an appointment through Handshake. If you can’t get an appointment at the desired time (the Closet has become very popular), keep checking in. Cancellations do occur and new appointment availability is released each week. Visitors have 30 minutes to peruse the racks and try on outfits.
In the video above, Arin Siriamonthep (Questrom’24), a fashion and thrifting enthusiast, stopped by the Closet in search of some clothes for upcoming interviews, aided by his friend Victoria Lee (COM’24). Siriamonthep searched through an array of choices, spending time picking pieces and pairing together outfits to supplement his wardrobe. After a hurried half hour trying on various outfits—plus a quick runway show—he walked away with a blazer, a pair of trousers, a button-up shirt, and shoes. A great haul!
