From Instagram to TikTok, Join BU’s 2021 Virtual Commencement Celebration
Use #BU2021 on social to be featured on the Jumbotron
Whether you’re a BU grad or a proud Terrier parent, family member, or friend, there are many ways to get in the Commencement spirit virtually this year. And that’s never been more important than this year, when families and friends cannot be with graduating seniors on Nickerson Field for the big ceremonies.
For starters, how about sending a message of love and support that will run on the Jumbotron during Sunday’s big event? Here’s your chance. In keeping with recent BU Commencement tradition, Class of 2021 graduates, family members, and friends can once again share their memories and post photos, congratulations, and good wishes on social media via Tagboard. Using #BU2021, anyone with a public Instagram or Twitter account is able to submit content for consideration, starting on Thursday, May 13, and continuing until 2 pm on Commencement Sunday, May 16. The user-generated social media content will be shown live on Nickerson Field’s video board before the ceremonies start. The posts and well wishes will also be featured on the Boston University 2021 Commencement website.
With the pandemic forcing more of the BU community to tune in from afar this year, there are now even more ways to join the celebration virtually. Convey your cheers on TikTok, virtually step on the BU seal on Marsh Plaza, or have your Zoom background reflect your BU pride. These digital goodies and more are offered on the Celebrate page on the BU 2021 Commencement website.
And of course, you’ll want to tune in for the main event on Sunday, May 16. Both the Advanced Degree Commencement ceremony at 9:30 am EDT and the Undergraduate Degree Commencement ceremony at 2 pm EDT will be livestreamed, feature Communication Access Realtime Translation (CART) transcription and ASL interpretation, and be available in 10 languages.
Congratulations to all our Terriers—you did it!
