  1. This article is fascinating as a Boston University freshman interested in media and culture. I am currently taking an introductory writing course that focuses on the artists of the Harlem Renaissance and the Negritude Movement. Going into the course, I did not know about this explosion of black culture in the 1920s/30s. Now as the semester draws to a close, I have learned so much more about the African-American/African experience, especially during a peak in segregation and colonization. I just finished writing my final essay for the course tying these movements to modern art and music (specifically that of Kendrick Lamar and Childish Gambino). So, I enjoyed learning about how other artists are discussing African Americans and society through different forms like comic strips and videos. I wanted to end by saying thank you for sharing your art and exploring these lesser-known topics so they can be brought to the public eye, especially during a time of extreme political and social turmoil.
