How to Wear a Face Mask Properly
Our video shows the best ways to wear, remove, and store face coverings to reduce the risk of getting or spreading COVID-19
As the fall semester begins, BU Today reminds the BU community that wearing a face covering is required at all times, including in shared spaces, BU student residences, all University buildings, on the BU Shuttle (the BUS) and other modes of public transportation, including the MBTA, as well as on the street and in public spaces.
Our video offers some great tips on how to put on, remove, store, and dispose of your cloth or disposable face covering. Among them: make sure your face covering fits snugly but comfortably against the sides of your face, that it covers your nose, mouth, and chin, and that it has multiple layers of fabric and fastens securely with ties or ear loops.
And remember: gaiters, bandanas, neck fleeces, scarves, and masks with exhalation valves should not be used, given the potentially increased risk of aerosol transmission associated with these types of facial coverings.
