  1. As a fellow Classics major, I had he pleasure of knowing Rahul in College and Medical School. What a pleasure! He was so full of brilliance and charisma. Passionate in every endeavor he undertook. A true Renaissance man gone to soon he will be dearly missed by all of us.

  2. After reading this article.. I strongly feel that the iconic neuro scientist has not passed away! He has implanted himself in every neuron of every Neuro Scientist who fight against ALS.

  3. My father was diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) in the summer of 2013; His initial symptoms were quite noticeable. He first experienced weakness in his right arm and his speech and swallowing abilities were profoundly affected. We all did our best to seek help for this disease no medications they prescribe worked ,we were all scared we might lost him due to his condition, as he had been his brother’s caregiver a few years earlier for the same disease before he past. doctor recommend nuatural treatment from total cure herbal foundation for his ALS we have no choice to give a try on natural organic treatment ,this herbal cure has effectively reverse my father condition ,losing his balance which led to stumbling and falling stop after the completing the herbal supplement which include his weakness in his right arm and his speech, natural herbs from totalcureherbsfoundation .co m home remedy is the best although their service is a little bit expensive but it worth it, they save lives.

  4. My once-vibrant mother almost died of als. my Mother was diagnosed with als in 2018 following a year of doctor visits and tests aimed at finding a cure for her slurred speech, difficulty swallowing, and weakening limbs. By the time she was diagnosed, she had developed pneumonia and was put on a respirator. A family friend visits us and told us about Donald Herbal Medical center and their successful als treatment, I am happy to report the treatment effectively treated and reversed her Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (als), most of the symptoms stopped, she is able to walk and able to ride her treadmill again, she is pretty active now and can do everything again. if you need the help of the doctor you can write him on this email healthcaremedicalcenter15 at g m a i l c o m

  5. As a BU alumna (CAS 1988), scientist and educator who has lost both a family member and a close friend (and awesome range ecologist) to ALS, I found this article deeply moving. And helpful. Because we need to understand, as best we can, the whys/hows/whats of ALS, and what it feels like for those impacted by this devastating disease.

My profound condolences to everyone who has lost a loved one to ALS.

  6. I started reading Rahul’s story by accident . I was looking for a classmate of mine in hyderabad , India . Her last name was Desikan , Indumati Desikan . I am glad I came across Rahul . What an extraordinary human being , I am glad I met him , sort of . My condolences to the family . I still wonder if my friend Indumati Desikan is somehow connected .

  7. My husband has Bulbar ALS, he is about 63 years old it was diagnosed 2 years ago. It was getting more difficult to live for him, because of stiff muscles he couldn’t even move. Riluzole and tofersen medicines were given, but didn’t give much relief. He couldn’t eat food without choking. I thought this might be the last stage and the medications he was given did not help at all, so I started to do alot of research on Ayurveda treatments, I was introduced to Natural Herbs Centre and their ALS/MND Ayurveda Protocol. He started on the Ayurveda Treatment last year, his symptoms gradually diminished including his vocal cord spasm, Muscle Weakness, speech and Difficulty with swallowing. Reach them at natural herbs centre . c o m , he is getting active again since starting this treatment, he is able to walk again ( down the street and back ) he has also resumed exercising to strengthen muscles and lo longer require a feeding tube!! God Bless all ALS Caregivers. Stay Strong, take small moments throughout the day to thank yourself, to love your self, and pray to whatever faith, star, spiritual force you believe in and ask for strength. I can personally vouch for these remedy but you would probably need to decide what works best for you.

  8. I was in ENG 99 and spent a lot of time with Rahul. He was one of the most reliable friends with a unique passion for everything he pursued. I’m really sad that I never kept in touch after school. We shared a common interest of Bond movies and Rahul had this innate passion with analyzing movies that we bonded over. There were a lot of moments I treasure spending with him.

Something reminded me of him today, and googling his name brought me to this and I’m in tears. His continued passion and dedication till the very end do not surprise me. He will live forever in many memories.
