MBTA trolley service in Brookline skirting BU’s Charles River Campus was disrupted Monday afternoon after a Green Line D trolley derailed. Shuttle buses were replacing the Green Line’s C trolley service near campus between St. Mary’s Street and Kenmore Station and the D trolley between Kenmore and Fenway stations, the MBTA said.
The MBTA said regular trolley service on both lines would not be restored Monday.
The derailment occurred just after noon, and seven passengers suffered minor injuries, according to Boston EMS officials. Their identities were not immediately released. Media reports said the trolley operator was among the injured and that several of the injured complained of back pain.
The derailed car was part of a two-car D trolley on the Riverside line. The B line runs through the Charles River Campus.
The cause of the derailment is under investigation.
