Patrick Chambers Takes Charge Full Story
New coach meets the press

Boston University formally introduced new men’s basketball coach Patrick Chambers, who has been Villanova associate head coach, at a press conference April 8 at Agganis Arena. Flanked by relatives and his new team, Chambers thanked Jay Wright, Villanova’s head coach and his mentor of the past five years. During that time, Chambers, whose responsibilities included recruiting, on-court teaching, and player development, helped the Wildcats earn four NCAA Sweet 16 appearances and a spot in this year’s Final Four.
The new coach said he hopes to sit down with Jack Parker (SMG’68, Hon.’97), BU men’s head hockey coach, to learn about his recipe for success. “It’s not going to be butting heads between hockey and basketball,” Chambers said. “We’re going to work together.” As soon as the press conference broke up, he made straight for his players, shaking hands with each.
“Guys are positive,” said guard Tyler Morris (SMG’10). “I see guys coming out of their workout smiling.”
Chambers’ goal: to fill the house with fans next year. “We want to create a buzz on campus about the program,” he said. That buzz has officially started.
