SPH Participates in Boston-India Symposium
The School of Public Health is joining Harvard, Tufts, and MIT in hosting the Boston-India Symposium on Essential Interfaces in Public Health, which begins today. Gerald Keusch, an SPH professor of global health, director of BU’s Global Health Initiative, and Medical Campus assistant provost, represented Boston University on the symposium's organizing committee.
The symposium aims to improve public health policy and services in India and determine how Boston-based institutions can support India’s efforts in public health education, research, and service. Persistent poverty, HIV infection, tuberculosis, and low life expectancy plague the country’s population of over 1.1 billion people.
“The symposium will bring together leading academics, innovators, and key government stakeholders from Boston and India to discuss collaborative strategies for meeting international public health challenges,” says Keusch.
The event will be held October 22 and 23 at the Westin Copley Place Hotel, 10 Huntington Ave., Boston. Participation is limited to the first 150 registrants. Registration forms can be obtained via e-mail from registrations@fmr.com or by calling 617-392-0993.
