SDM Faculty Contribute to a Step-by-Step Guide to Surgery
Serge Dibart, a Goldman School of Dental Medicine professor of periodontology, has compiled the research and writings of 10 SDM faculty members in his latest book, Practical Advanced Periodontal Surgery.
The book, which focuses on applying the basic principles of biology to periodontal treatment, provides a step-by-step guide to the latest surgical procedures.
“I don’t believe there’s any book outside at the moment that compresses all these specific subjects that are also cutting-edge at the moment,” Dibart says.
“Our periodontology department at SDM has a very strong progressive component that incorporates new surgical techniques and innovative treatments that make it truly unique in this country,” he says. “I’m very grateful to the dental faculty for helping me with this book.”
The book, which will be published in early November by Wiley, has already sold more than 500 advance copies.
Dibart is currently negotiating with publishers for another book incorporating the work of SDM faculty; it aims to standardize treatment planning for dental students.
