New Optometry Center Welcomes Wuqaas Munir
MED professor Wuqaas Munir will work at a new state-of-the-art optometric/ophthalmology facility this fall.

Wuqaas Munir, a School of Medicine assistant professor of ophthalmology, will join New England Eye Commonwealth this fall. The optometric/ophthalmology practice, which opened in January, is a collaboration between MED and the New England College of Optometry.
Munir, a specialist in cornea refractive surgery and external disease, will provide refractive surgery and ophthalmology consultation. “It’s an opportunity to provide [these services] in a different environment,” says Munir, who also works at Boston Medical Center. The Commonwealth practice is unique, he adds, in that it caters to a larger undergraduate population. He hopes that as the practice broadens to include more services, it will help to expand the relationship between optometry and ophthalmology.
Munir will continue to teach in MED and work at Boston Medical Center this fall.
