Improving Oral Health
SDM’s Judith Jones is recognized for her work in geriatric oral research.

Judith Jones, a professor and chair of the Goldman School of Dental Medicine’s department of general dentistry, recently received the International Association for Dental Research Distinguished Scientist Award for her work in geriatric oral research.
Jones received the award, given annually to scientists who contribute outstanding dental research, at the opening session of the organization’s annual meeting in New Orleans on March 21.
“I am honored and humbled by receipt of this award,” says Jones. “Being recognized by one’s peers is the validation of our research in oral-specific, health-related quality of life.”
Jones studies oral health–related quality of life at the Northeast Center for Research to Evaluate and Eliminate Dental Disparities at SDM, one of five such centers funded by the National Institute on Dental and Craniofacial Research and the National Center on Minority Health and Health Disparities. She has researched and published extensively in the field of geriatric dentistry.
