A Patriotic Internship

Megan Strong (COM’08) is not only a full-time fan of the New England Patriots, but for 18 hours each week she is a member of their production crew.

The broadcast major works behind the scenes at Patriots Today, which airs on the team’s Web site, as well as at Patriots All-Access and Totally Patriots, which air on Boston television station WCVB TV/DT.

“I like Totally Patriots the best because we do player interviews every week,” Strong says. “It’s always fun to see what the players’ lives are like and to know a little bit more about them than just what they do on the field.”

Most of Strong’s job involves locating footage for segments of each program and finding the best camera angle from which to view a particular play. “It’s really helping that I take classes in COM and they prepare you,” she explains. “But you don’t really know what it’s like until you actually go into the field and do a TV show every day.”

Rebecca McNamara can be reached at ramc@bu.edu.
