Dependable, honest, performing above and beyond — these are some of the qualities that recently won Tony Davis (CAS’07) the Student Employee of the Year award from the Association of College Unions International (ACUI) Region 1 for his work as student manager of the George Sherman Union Administration Office. Annemarie Kougias, director of the GSU, nominated Davis for the honor.

“I’ve been in this business for 25 years, and there are a few students that rise to the top,” says Kougias. “Tony is one of them.” According to Kougias, Davis has been consistently dependable and honest in his role as student manager. “He has just performed above and beyond this year,” she says. “He’s the student I know I can count on.”

Davis works at the GSU 20 hours a week and often stops by the office when he isn’t working to make sure everything is running smoothly. As student manager, he is responsible for scheduling events, training other students on the staff, and reading shift reports.

“I really love the building. It’s my favorite place to be on campus, and I think that is noticeable when I do my work,” he says.
