About
Samantha Igo is a graduate student in the Master’s in Public Anthropology program. She is also the Communications & Outreach Associate for the Global Economic Governance Initiative (GEGI) at the Boston University Global Development Policy Center, where she works on implementing strategic communications for GEGI research and a global task force working to advance a development-centered approach to climate change at the International Monetary Fund. She has always been interested in how stories are told – in politics to bend public opinion and in museums to shape narratives of the past – and how they reflect and reinforce power structures, political divisions, social anxieties and fears, and more.
Previously, Sam worked as social media manager and speechwriter for the Comptroller of Maryland as well as communications director for Maryland State Senator Mary Washington. She received a B.A. in Writing Seminars from Johns Hopkins University with minors in Marketing & Communications and Museum Studies.
