Ugandan feminist researcher Dr. Lydia Namatende-Sakwa, and Sarah began this project in 2020 (and later brought on an additional editor, Catherine Langsford, who is a South African doctoral candidate in Education). The chapters are written by African researchers, academics, and students from across the continent. In addition to working closely with the authors as an editor, she co-authored the foreword.
