  1. So many fond memories of watching the Marathon while a student at BU. Trying hard to hold on to those positive memories and not let the evil replace them — made much harder by finding out one of those lost was a BU student. Thoughts and prayers to the student, his/her friends and family, and the entire BU community.

  2. No words can express the sadness felt for the loved ones and friends of our fellow Terrier. Condolences and prayers to his/her friends and family.

  3. My thoughts and prayers go out to their family and friends This is just heart-breaking! Such a beautiful city violated. As a parent of a BU freshmen 16′, I am grateful that BU has kept all their students informed at all times As a parent all you want is your child to be safe.

  4. The sadness definitely hit me harder after learning that a BU student was among the three dead. R.I.P. Hope the family will get through this difficult time.

  5. I couldn’t hold my tears at last, when I heard that the Chinese Consulate confirmed a Chinese BU graduate student died in blasts. I was an international student, at BU, from China. I know how hard it is to live in this country as an international student. I know she must be a determinate young lady, extremely courageous, to come to a foreign country to pursue an advanced degree. I know what kind of sacrifice the young girl and her family had. I know how devastating it is for a family losing its own child. Now a young life has been taken away. This is just so heartbreaking. I know her name, as the entire Chinese community was looking for her before getting the bad news. I respect her privacy, and the will of her family to hold her name from releasing to public. I hope she can RIP. I hope her family can get through this. My thought is always with you.

  6. I am truly sadden and heartbroken. My thoughts and prayers for these students. I know our BU community was struck hard with this tragic news, but I know our community will stand strong and offer the much needed support to these victims families.

  7. Truly a sad day for Boston, Massacusetts, The USA and the world! The pain deepened for me when I discovered that one of the deceased went to my high school (Medford High) and the other adult went to my college (Boston University). That brought it even closer to home for me, (from and still living in MA, plus attended many Boston marathons, always watching from the finish line.) and reitterates just how vulnerable we all truly are! May God bless all those affected by this tragedy.

  8. Oh, I am truly speechless. Please know that my thoughts are with the family and friends of this student. May you find the peace that you are looking for.

  9. As a parent of a BU senior, my heart is broken for this family’s baby, no doubt their pride and joy. Please know so many people are holding Boston, BU and all of the victims in our hearts.

  10. I’m so sad to hear that a fellow BU student has died and another was injured. The incident is horrific. The entire BU community worldwide is feeling your pain.

  11. My condolences to the family and to Boston University community. I feel the sorrow of this senseless situation. Mi mas sentido pesame a la familia y a toda la comunidad de Boston University. Sentimos la pena inmensa que causa esta tragedia sin sentido. Miguel Rodriguez

  12. Even after all these years, Boston is still remembered as a second home and BU as a second family. My thoughts and condolences to our BU family members in their loss.

  13. My heart is broken. You can’t understand the beauty and joy of the boston marathon until you watch the runners that cross the line after the 3 hour mark. These are the true heros – as are the people that wait for them to cross the line. To the beautiful soul who was lost – you were a great friend and will be missed.

  14. Deeply saddened by this tragedy. My condolences to her family, friends and relatives. As a BU alumnus also from China, I feel very sorry to lose a nice member on BU campus. For us who are still alive, let’s cherish our lives and do good things for BU and our society.

  15. Please know that we are all praying for the victims and their families at this time. This tragedy has affected all Americans…our thoughts and prayers go out to everyone in Boston. We hold you all so dear to our hearts.

  16. I’m heartbroken. I’ve been trying to wrap my head around it but still can’t, so I can only imagine what the victims/witnesses/anybody present there and their loved ones are going through at the moment. May our fellow Terrier and the other victims that passed away rest in peace, and may their families find the strength to get through this trying time. Lots of love and prayers your way.

  17. I am so sorry and heart broken that this happened. This is all very surreal. Thinking of the family and friends of this student and all others affected. <3

  18. So so sad. I worried a BU student or grad would be hurt. I know our University had a strong attendance at this event….my heart goes out to all the hurt and injured and their families.

  19. Rest in Peace fellow Terrier. Gone too soon. Deepest sympathies to her family and friends and to the entire BU and greater Boston community.

  20. We Mortals

    We long for
    the perfection
    in these things
    of the world;
    life, certain
    in its
    bilateral symmetry;
    generations
    strung like pearls
    on imagined wire.
    We squint
    at the sun.
    We marvel
    at the plaintive
    syllables of songbirds.
    We admire
    tallness and clarity.
    Feeling the vibrations
of it all beneath our feet,
    we rhapsodize
    distances
    suggested upon
    moonless nights,
    daring to name
    the ineffable.
    We write
    poems and chant
    to the mysteries.
    We dance
    round fires
    in the clearings
    we have made
    in the forest.
    We weep
    for the spirits
    of fallen trees.
    Facing death
    we avert our eyes.
    When great things
    succumb
    we tell
    ourselves
    they were never there.
    Thirsty,
    we lie
    on our backs
    allowing our mouths
    to fill with rainwater,
    and hope to rise
    like blossoms
    from the dust.

    Daniel Thomas Moran

  21. A truly heart breaking moment. May she rest in peace. My sincere condolences to her family and loved ones and those of all who were injured. I was at Marsh Chapel during 9/11 and I remember how we all came together irrespective of race or religion. I wish all my fellow Terriers peace and strength.

  22. Love is stronger than death even though it can’t stop death from happening, but no matter how hard death tries it can’t separate us from love. Rest in peace my dear friend.

  23. What a tragedy for her family in China, if that is where they live now. To send a daughter here to experience a new culture and expand her learning and to have this terrible outcome. How unutterably sad. I hope they can find a way to understand this thing.

  24. My hearts bleeds for all the Bostonians .I pray to god for peace and understanding .As a mother of a current BU student I can’t even imagine what her family must be going through . May she rest in peace .my deepest condolences to the family .

  25. Rest in Peace my fellow BU family member. Although I graduated from BU over 30 years now, all BU students past and present are one family. May the Chinese community know my heart is extremely sad on this loss of an obvious wonderful young woman. My deepest sympathy to her family in China and friends around the world. Glen Harris SMG 75

  26. Speechless….As a fellow grad student I truly felt the sadness in my heart. May the culprit of such terrible crime be caught and punished to the fullest extend of justice. My prayers and thoughts are always with you. May your soul rest in peace and happiness in Heaven.

  27. The fans that have been lost were all a Godsend to the thousands of tired runners they cheered for. Their selfless sacrifice and words of encouragement although now stifled by a senseless act of violence will nevertheless live in our hearts forever. These wonderful people may be gone from this earth but their spirits will undoubtedly be there to motivate future generations of tired runners as they come around the corner from Hereford to Beacon. We will never be silenced by those who threaten our liberties with violence! We are too strong, too brave and too indebted to those who have died for our freedoms to allow a coward to slow us down.

  28. I’m heartbroken. My thoughts are with her family and friends.

I can still remember all the excitement and hope I experienced first coming to BU. It’s tragic to think her experience was cut short by such a senseless act.

The entire BU community across the world feels for your loss.

  29. Extremely shocked and sad, I am a chinese high school senior and have been admitted in BU…Rest In Peace…I see the stong power comes from both China and USA this time.

    永远记住我们永远和你在一起!安息!

  30. Such tragic news. As parents of a current BU student, our heart goes out to all, our arms wrap around you and our tears flow for the loss of Lingzi Lu and the others killed and injured. We are all Bostonians (and Terriers) now.

  31. Such a sad day for Boston as a whole and BU as a community. I am a former BU student and am now in California…feeling that I should be with my fellow BU Community to mourn and heal from such a tragic event. God Bless you BU and BE STRONG!!!

  32. 现在每次看到你的新闻都会流泪,但每次还是要去看你的新闻,真希望那不是你。。。。我们都很想你。。。

  33. I’m so heartbroken. BU and Boston is such a special place, a truly international community. May we always be united in making this world a better place. My heart goes out to Ms. Lu’s family and friends.

  34. So young and beautiful! Our New Hampshire family mourns with you. So sorry for your loss and the world. Such a promising young girl. Our hearts go out to friends and family. Please know across the world families who don’t know you are praying for you!!

  37. so .. so… sorry about the tragic loss of Lu to the BU community, to the world and to her family most of all. Let’s hope the FBI catches this/ these cowards and that they get true justice. Let’s hope we can all give love and strength to her family as well as to the other killed and injured. And let’s continue to make Boston the HUB of learning it has always been and will always be!

  38. What a tragic loss,no words I can put here will mean anything to the family and friends of Lu Lingzi. I grieve for her as well as Martin Richard and Krystal Campbell.

  39. They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning,
    We will remember them.

    -Laurence Binyon

  40. What a tragedy! I feel so sorry for her family. This news has broken my heart. May God gives Lu’s family peace and strengh. Question: Was Lingzi Lu an International Student?

  41. This is so sad.
I hope that BU will set up a fund for fellow students, alumni and guests to donate to help the family. She’s probably an only child, on whom the family takes immense pride, and depends for emotional, as well as practical support, until now.

  42. She was in one of my classes, she was so beautiful and always looked so peaceful and hardworking. I am very sorry about this tragedy and my sincere thoughts and prayers go to her family, may she rest in peace

  43. She and I come from the same town of China and also we both studied at Beijing Institute of Technology before. We have some friends in common even I don’t know her. Like most Chinese family, she’s the only child of her parents which makes me feel so sorry for her family. R.I.P Lingzi!

  44. News of this devastating attack hits even closer to home knowing that one of the victims was a BU student. It’s heartbreaking. Every member of the BU Community, past and present, feels this loss.
May Lu Lingzi rest in peace. My thoughts go out to her family and friends.

  45. The Boston Marathon bombings was the most horrific day i have ever
experienced in my 35 years here. I feel so much for the BU student
who lost her precious life in seconds, and to the other victims of
this senseless attack. It breaks my heart and fills my eyes with tears
    to hear of this.

  46. 一路走好,从沈阳来的小妹妹,我与你一样来自中国沈阳和平区,愿平安从此伴随与你,安慰你家人那颗破碎的心!

Rest in Peace, the younger sister from He Ping District, Shenyang. May peace with you for ever and comfort be with your family member’s broken heart!

  47. I feel so sorry about this. I’m also a Chinese student and I’ll go to BU to study this year, if this happens to me, I cannot imagine how sad my parents will be.Lu Lingzi is such a beautiful girl, she may have a wonderful future… I’m really sorry about her and her family. R.I.P.:(

  48. It’s so sad she was young and full of life and was working towards the future. This is senseless and accomplished nothing. My deepest condolences to the family, friends, and all that is effect by this loss.

  49. What a tragedy! As the only child in the family, she is survived by her parents and 4 grandparents! 6 broken hearts! I wonder what we could do to help the family.

  50. As a parent of a college going girl of Lu’s age, my heart bleeding. Such a sweet and pretty angel! Can’t imagine what must have fallen on her parents. May she rest in peace. My sympathies and prayers for her family.

  51. She is such a lovely and beautiful lady. Rest in the safety of God. May God be with her family. 愿这可爱女孩的家人在主爱里得着力量和安慰。主恩永远与你们同在!

  52. I don’t want to begin to imagine the pain Lingzi’s family has been going through. My heartfelt sympathy and condolences. Please allow you time to grieve and recover from this great loss. May her loving memories comfort you.

  53. Such a beautiful and talented young lady vanished in this meaningless and senseless tragedy. She came all the way from China to realize her dream at the prestigious BU.
Two young women and one cute boy, I hope this is enough to make the bomber feel the guilt. You took away our beautiful Miss Lü, the only child of a family that is thousands of miles away from their daughter.

  54. She is so beautiful and smart.I cannot hold my eyes when i heared the news !I am so sorry for lingzi’s family and friends! Rest in peace!

  55. In the same high school, NEYC, graduated in the same year, 2008, may have seen you at some point though not knowing you, may you rest in peace. God bless all NEYCers! Sorry for her family. She might be the only child. :(

  56. Its a tragedy to hear that we have lost one of our own . Boston used to feel the safest place the whole time I was studying there. It always felt home away from home. My prayers go to lu’s family and to Boston university community!

  57. I am crying as I read this. Nothing I say will be novel but my thoughts are with the family. My daughter also far from home was volunteering and this can’t be closer.
I pray God to give the family strength

  58. The Chuo University community in Tokyo sends its most sincere and heart-felt condolences to the family and friends of Lu Lingzi, and to all members of the BU and Boston communities. Lingzi is in our thoughts and prayers, and will be always.

  59. Let this tragedy remind us all, once again, life is in itself beautiful. Looking at Lingzi’s smile just a few hours ago when this happened, every “thing” that bothers me in my life just melt away…a stressful work,a person cutting the line, etc, it simply does not matter anymore. After all, I am still standing under the sun, breathing…

We never know what will happen the next day. let’s cherish life!
May Love heals every one, for body, and soul.

  61. ‘When human weakness answering to the prod of terror calls, “Help us, Oh God!” Then silence let’s the silent voice be heard, bringing it’s message like the spoken word. “Believe, believe in me, cast out your fear. No, I’m not up there beyond the sky, but here, right here in your heart. I am the strength you seek. Believe.’ – Prayer from ‘God Is My Co-Pilot’ by Col. Robt. L Scott, USAAF
