Due to the ongoing hard disk shortage affecting all manufacturers, resulting in extended lead times up to 30 days or more on some systems, users should plan accordingly whenever placing orders. While this constraint is expected to affect all manufacturers of desktops, laptops and servers relatively equally, certain models may have better availability than others. Please contact your local IT support team for guidance on upcoming requirements.

In cooperation with Information Services & Technology, BU Sourcing maintains the university’s Apple and PC standards. This standardization lowers the total cost of ownership through reduced support costs. It encourages collaboration and efficiency between all BU IT support staff as more and more departments support the same standards and develop a greater body of knowledge about the same models. Standardization allows your department to leverage the buying power of the entire university.

For departmental purchases please do not use the the vendors’ public retail websites. These sites are not specific to Boston University so the prices may be higher, shipping may be charged, and taxes will be applied.
