Prof. Nathan Phillips Quoted in Articles on Prague Gas Leak
Pardee Center Faculty Fellow Nathan Phillips is quoted in articles in the The Christian Science Monitor and New Scientist about an explosion in Prague, Czech Republic likely linked to a natural gas leak that left 40 people injured. This incident follows a similar explosion in Reims, France that left three dead and 14 injured. Prof. Phillips is an expert in urban gas leaks and his study on aging natural gas system was published November 2012 in Environmental Pollution titled Mapping urban pipeline leaks: Methane leaks across Boston. Prof. Philips says old pipelines should be replaced and new ones should be equipped with sensors.
