Application Requirements

Thank you for your interest in applying to CELOP.

Now that you are ready to apply, we are here to help. First, please make sure that you meet all of our application requirements. To study at CELOP, you must:

    • Be at least 17 years old.
    • Be a graduate of high school/secondary school.
    • Be able to speak, understand, write, and read simple English sentences.
    • Be able to pay for all tuition and fees. Review our Program Dates and Fees before applying.

    Application Instructions

    For New Students

    Step 1. Create a BU Web Account

    • If you already have a BU ID, do NOT create a new account.

    • After you create an account, you will receive an email to verify your web account and how to continue your application. Follow the instructions in that email.
    • This email address will be your BU Web account name. You will use it to authenticate BU Web applications and CELOP will use this address for email communications with you.

    Step 2. LOGIN to Application Homepage

    Step 3. Start a New Application

    • Select the semester you are applying for.
    • If you do not see your desired semester, do NOT start an application for a different semester.

    Step 4. Supporting Documents

    • Passport – please upload a scanned image of your passport
    • Financial/Bank Statement – cannot email/upload. You must send original financial documents to our office using your preferred courier.
    • Affidavit of Support – if the financial documents are NOT in your name, you must complete an Affidavit of Support.

    Step 5. Pay the application fee & submit your application

    • Please have a credit card ready to pay the application fee
    • This fee is non-refundable and non-transferable

    For Transfer Students

    Step 1. Create a BU Web Account

    • If you already have a BU ID, do NOT create a new account.

    Step 2. LOGIN to Application Homepage

    • Select the semester you are applying for.
    • If you do not see your desired semester, DO NOT start an application for a different semester.

    Step 4. Supporting Documents

    • Passport – please upload a scanned image of your passport
    • Financial/Bank Statement – cannot email/upload. You must send original financial documents to our office using your preferred courier.
    • Visa – please upload a scanned image of your visa
    • I-94 - please upload a scanned image of your I-94
    • I-20 (all 3 pages) from previous schools - you must submit copies of ALL previous I-20’s issued to you.
    • Affidavit of Support – if the financial documents are NOT in your name, you must complete an Affidavit of Support.

    Step 5. Pay the application fee & submit your application

    • Please have a credit card ready to pay the application fee
    • This fee is non-refundable and non-transferable

    Step 6. After you are accepted, you will receive a Transfer Report by email

    • You must complete Part 1 of the Transfer Report
    • The DSO at your previous school will complete Part 2 of the Transfer Report

    For Continuing Students

    Step 1. Click on CREATE APPLICATION

    • Do NOT create a new account
    • Use your BU Login name and Kerberos password

    Step 2. Start a New Application for the next semester

    • Select the next semester
    • Then, click on “Click Here to Start A New Application”

    Step 3. Supporting Documents

    To complete your application, you will need the following documents:

    • Passport
    • Visa
    • I-94 Copy
    • I-20 (all 3 pages) – your current I-20 only
    • Financial Guarantee Letter (Sponsored students) – updated sponsor letter for continuing semester

    For I-20 extensions

    • Financial/Bank Statement – only to extend I-20′s
    • Affidavit of Support – if the financial documents are NOT in your name, you must complete an Affidavit of Support.

    Step 4. Pick up a “Permission To Return (PTR)” form in Room 248

    Step 5. Bring completed Permission to Return form and all supporting documents to Room 248



    Financial/Bank Statement Requirements:

    • An original Financial/Bank Statement MUST be shipped to our office by courier.

    • Financial documents cannot be uploaded or emailed. All financial documents:
      • Must be written in English.
      • Must be dated within 6 months of the start date of the program you are applying for.
      • Must show liquid (cash) funds in a checking or savings account.
      • Must show funds that match or exceed the Total Estimated Expenses of the program you are applying for.
      • Must be signed by a bank official.
    • If you are sponsored by a your government, employer or other institution, you must provide a valid financial guarantee letter.
    • If you are coming to the U.S. with dependents (spouse and/or children), please email us at celop@bu.edu for specific costs of dependents.

    Payment

    The application fee and tuition deposit are non-refundable and non-transferable. All students must pay their bill at Student Account Services before the start of their program. CELOP does not offer financial aid.
