The Commonwealth Avenue Improvement Project, a Massachusetts Highway Department project endorsed by the City
of Boston and Boston University, is a major public works initiative designed to enhance pedestrian safety
and beautify the urban landscape from Kenmore Square to Amory Street, just west of the BU Bridge. The
project contractor, McCourt Construction Company, began work in late August. While the end result of
this two-year project will be a significant improvement to BU’s main thoroughfare, both the University
and the surrounding community will likely experience some disruption during the project period. In an effort to lessen the impact of such disruption, the University offers this informational website featuring project updates from the MHD and McCourt Construction that will help you plan your activities with as little inconvenience as possible. Subscribe to receive these updates via e-mail, and come back often to see what's new.
The information on this site regarding the scheduling and timing of work is based on information provided to Boston University by the Massachusetts Highway Department or McCourt Construction Company.
