What is it like to be a BUMP student? Find out by reading Diana’s story: http://blogs.bu.edu/bump/
Time for a little word association. Summer = ?. Beach, rest, vacation, research. Research? For some BUMP students summer is another opportunity to continue their research, either through the BU University Research Opportunity Program (UROP) or NSF-funded Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU). Take a look at some of their research projects here and here.
BUMP student Arianna Medina (CAS ’13) will be presenting her groups research results, “Personality traits in the clownfish Amphiprion percula“, at the Animal Behavior Society meeting in Albuquerque in June 2012. Arianna, along with fellow undergraduate Curran Uppaluri (CAS ’13), were supported in their research by the University Research Opportunities Program (UROP). Stacy Arnold (Arizona State) was supported by the Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship (SURF) program at BU. Faculty mentors Peter Buston and Marian Wong will be accompanying Arianna to the ABS meeting.

BUMP students are involved in many different internships. A group of five BUMP students are the social media team for Stellwagen Alive.
“Stellwagen Alive! is on a mission—a mission to preserve Stellwagen Bank and the Stellwagen Bank National Marine Sanctuary. We are all at risk of losing this backyard undersea treasure that we’ve depended on for centuries.”
