Martin Luther King Jr. Day 2025: “The Darkness at Midnight”
BU’s annual celebration of Martin Luther King Day, cosponsored by the city of Boston, was held January 25 at the George Sherman Union. The day’s theme, “The Darkness of Midnight,” was drawn from a sermon King (GRS’55, Hon.’59) delivered in 1958 and revised in 1962. Among the speakers were University President Melissa L. Gilliam and Nick Bates, Howard Thurman Center director. Best-selling author Cole Arthur Riley gave the keynote address, and the Hamilton-Garrett Youth Choir (above) sang. Photo by Jake Belcher
